Host a course from your own material.
Anyone can host a course. Upload your material and ScaLearn drafts the syllabus, assessments with rubrics, and study materials, each traced back to its source.
Where the load falls.
Marking nobody pays for
Of marking in a single cycle for one lecturer, on cohorts of 80 to 500, against fixed deadlines. Formative feedback is the first thing to go.
Two markers, two voices
Different markers write in different language. Students compare feedback, notice, and appeal.
One mark, four contributors
Individual contribution inside a team is hard to separate fairly, so a group mark is hard to defend when a student queries it.
Disengagement shows up late
In one educator’s course, fewer than one in five students log into the VLE. The students who drift are spotted when recovery is hardest.
Help arrives after the deadline
Stuck at midnight, help arrives Monday, the deadline was Friday. The same question reaches the lecturer forty times in forty emails.
Too much to read, no way to practise
Long readings across four modules and almost no exam-prep tools from the university. Students turn to generic AI and have to write the prompts themselves.
Figures are what educators and students tell us in discovery conversations. They are not published statistics.
Practise what your course will assess.
Assessment-window practice
Pick your module and week. A short diagnostic, questions on the weak spots, instant right-or-wrong feedback, then a retest.
Chat in three modes
Text, voice and avatar. Every answer comes from the course’s own materials and shows the source.
Learning tools for every style
Heavy readings turned into formats that fit how you learn, all from your own course materials.
Turn your material into a course.
Course builder
Upload your material and ScaLearn drafts the syllabus: weeks, topics and lesson plans, ready for you to edit.
Assessments and rubrics
Set assessments on your material and build each rubric by talking it through, rather than filling in a grid.
Engagement materials
Challenges, quizzes and study formats built from your material and checked against it, shared with your learners by link.
Run the course you host.
Submission manager
Mark student submissions against your rubric, criterion by criterion. The marker awards every mark.
Group-work orchestration
Individual contribution recorded while the work is in progress, so a group mark can be defended.
Cohort insight
See which topics a cohort keeps getting wrong, so the next seminar starts where learners need it.

From a dissertation to a venture.
It started as research
An applied master’s dissertation at Alliance Manchester Business School asked whether AI could make personalised learning viable at scale. Dr Adam Frost supervised it.
Peer-reviewed and presented
A follow-up paper with Dr Frost, presented at HEAd’25 in Valencia, found lecturers saw the potential and named the risks. Those findings set how ScaLearn works.
Accelerated at MEC
Accepted into the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre Venture Builder in March 2026, which gave the research a team, a runway and a room full of people to test it with.
Built at · Backed by
Masood Entrepreneurship Centre and its Venture Builder, at The University of Manchester, where the research began and the company was built.
